This game was made for a game jam with the theme “Fall” which meant that we could make a game either related to the season (i.e. autumn) or involving falling in some way. This made us think of leaves falling in autumn and we came up with the idea of a spider jumping on the leaves. The goal of the game is to get a high score by jumping on leaves and staying above ground as long as possible.
Features
- In order to really give players the feeling of falling leaves, I tried to make the objects move and rotate in a way that resembles leaves drifting here and there and tumbling in the wind.
- The game gets progressively harder as fewer and fewer leaves will spawn. More and more pinecones will also start to fall, threatening to knock the player off leaves
- Since we managed to get the game to a good state with some time to spare, I decided to add some different types of leaves:
- Red “Broken” leaves, which will disintegrate after a short time when the player stands on them.
- Green “Bouncy” leaves which will immediately make the player jump higher then normally when landed on
